China’s premium smart city conference to center on key industry segments with high growth potential

The second UrbanTec China conference is poised to present a series of highlights this year from 29 – 30 May in the country’s political center of Beijing, following the release of pilot smart cities announcements and related documents by the central government in December 2012.
Intelligent transportation, digital urban management, urban security, medical information technology, green building, geographical information, cloud computing and the Internet of Things are eight key market segments with broad development prospects, according to the news.
Held in the context of the China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services or CIFTIS - the UrbanTec China Conference is China’s premium integrated trading platform featuring key industry sectors for the sustainable development of cities, and connecting solution providers and industry leaders with city representatives and senior urban policymakers from all over China.
An addition to its program is a dialogue session with the participation of senior officials from China and abroad involved in smart city pilots and model city projects to explore issues and table solutions for sustainable development.
On top of that, delegates can look forward to a breadth of break out sessions centering on the Internet of Things to explore what makes smart cities work.
New to UrbanTec China is a specialized forum on disaster prevention and recovery, analyzing how mega cities cope with unexpected natural disasters in the wake of global climate change.
Industry insiders estimate investments on establishing smart cities during the 12th Five-Year Plan period in China could reach 500 billion Chinese yuan and could bring about business opportunities of up to 2 trillion Chinese yuan.
From a long-term perspective, smart cities will continue to enjoy high growth rates under the investment and support program of the government. Commercial entities are also paying more attention to the various industry sectors for business opportunities, hoping to become a leader in these market segments.
