Founded in 2010, CAU/BR is the public national organization responsible for regulating the practice of Architecture and Urbanism in the country. According to Federal Law No. 12378, from 31 December 2010, CAU/BR’s function is to "orient, discipline and supervise the practice of the profession of architecture and urbanism, ensure the faithful observance of the principles of ethics and discipline in the class throughout the country, as well as strive for improving the practice of architecture and urbanism". The Council is currently managed by its third board of directors, elected on January 11th of the current year, that will be chaired until 2020 by the Architect and Urbanist Mr. Luciano Guimarães. The Architects and Urbanists Mr. Fernando Márcio de Oliveira and Mrs. Nádia Somekh are currently leading CAU/BR’s Committee on International Relations (CRI).
